Wumpus : Nick Gates Restoration
Wumpus was been beautifully restored in 2014 by shipwright Nick Gates who has posted a video of the restoration on YouTube. The restoration is rumoured to have cost over £40,000 before the finance behind the project ran out leaving a rather lovely boat being offered on eBay for a bargain price in March 2017. News is filtering through that she has now, December 2017, been sold.
Wumpus completed a transatlantic crossing in 1978 under the command of Angela Langley and Liz Hammick. This was Angela's qualifying passage to join the Ocean Cruising Club - It was Angela's ex who actually owned the boat !
In 1981 Patrick Ebbitt crewed with owner Brian Larbalestier on a voyage between Gibraltar and Mallorca.
