Zante Goes Racing
The HBA's membership secretary and yacht racing enthusiast, Robert Griffiths, has spotted a request for a JCH racing certificate for Zante, one of the Harrison Butler designed Z4's. Given that the Association has not had news of Zante since 1999, it's great to know that she's in racing condition. The application included some recent photographs of Zante, reproduced above. Let's wish Zante good luck in the 2018 races !
Jim Broad's Zante
A previous owner of Zante was Jim Broad. When he died in 1999, it was fondly recalled that he sailed Zante single-handed (mostly) and that when not in commission, Zante's engine was lodged under his kitchen table - his long suffering wife, never once complaining !
Jim kept her at Newton Ferrers on the River Yealm in Devon but she's now berthed across the Channel, in St Malo.
