Vagabond being shipped from Mombasa to Cyprus in 1962
Globe Trotting HB Boat
Whilst researching another boat, I came across Vagabond* in the Royal Cruising Club's annual publication 'Roving Commissions' for 1963. The author claimed that she was designed by Dr Harrison Butler. However, she was NOT on my list of 'Boats known to the Association'. None-the-less, Paul Leinthall-Cowman was able to confirm from the archives that she's a genuine HB boat built to the Thuella design. The RCC book contains the Log of a Mediterranean cruise by Vagabond* over the summer of 1962. I've scanned in the two photoraphs that accompany the Log, taken by RGB Innes.
All this rather begs the question, "Where is Vagabond now ?" Paul L-C thinks she may be in the West Indies. We've attached a pink star to her because it would be so interesting to know more about this globe trotting boat.
