Thalia's Sicilian Cruise, Autumn 2014
This stunning photo shows that Jared David McClune is living the dream of what life afloat can be like. Following a facebook post by Jared, Robert Griffiths got in touch to find out more.
Robert reports, “Jared is an American based in Europe for the last 11 years. Since attending a boatbuilding school in Norway, he spends his summers as skipper of a replica Viking ship and sails Thalia each autumn and spring. Jared bought Thalia in 2011 and sailed her from the UK to the Mediterranean via Gibraltar. At first she was kept in Tunisia, now Southern Italy. Jared is making good use of his Norwegian boatbuilding skills to replace her deck”.
Thalia is a little unusual in appearance. She is a cutter sloop designed largely by Harrison Butler but with some alterations requested at the time of building by her original owner.
