| | Sinbad of Abersoch : Fastnet Competitor in 1989, For Sale
Sinbad of Abersoch is a fast and capable yacht, currently (June 2017) for sale for £65,000. When built in 1961 she was at the cutting edge of racing boat design, and she's quite a wet boat at speed, infamous for chucking a wave over her crew. Kathleen Kilby, a marine surveyor, owned her in the 1980s and 1990s and managed to keep her 'in class' at the Lloyd's 100A1 specification, a costly business that is actually quite hard on the boat as an intrusive survey has to be completed every four years. Kathleen raced Sinbad in the 1989 Fastnet race. More recently, in 2012, Sinbad has had a new teak deck. The brokerage website hasn't got the history of this boat correct, as will be apparent if you visit Kathleen's website where she's written extensively about Sinbad.
Sinbad has been entered for the Round The Island Race on 1st July 2017.
