Saoirse

Old boat, new lease of life
Nick Gill writes, “I purchased Saiorse in April 2022 in a derelict state having been left very neglected in Carne Creek off the Helford. I restored her with Clive Curnow over the next 18 months. We sailed in the 2024 Falmouth Classics; it was an ambition during the restoration process that kept us going. Unfortunately we were dismasted in in a 35 Knott squall that came through during the second race. However, a new mast is being made together with new sails. Hopefully Saiorse will be fully repaired in time for the 2025 season”.
Classic Boat
An article is being written (October 2024) by Nigel Sharp, the Classic Yacht journalist from St Mawes, targetted at Classic Boat magazine.
Name Changes
Originally called Myfanwy, she is recorded as being renamed Cariad in the 1979 and 1980 Lloyd's Register of Yachts. Reverting back to Myfanwy soon after, it was Brian Redmond who renamed her Saoirse when he purchased her in 2014.
