Santa Lucia II : Hillyard That's Circumnavigated The Globe
Santa Lucia II's first owner, Leonard Sandford, had the 12 ton Hillyard, Santa Lucia, built in 1963 before commissioning this bigger boat, built just three years later. The Wooden Ships brokerage, which handled a recent sale of Santa Lucia II, believe that Leonard wanted the bigger boat in order to attempt a circumnavigation which he then did. Santa Lucia II's current owner, Andrew Latty, has recently put her back in the water after ten months of stress to both owner and boat following a 'drop' as the boat was being lifted out last year. It fractured her wooden keel. Hopefully, happier days now lie ahead for them both.
