She floated above her marks
In 1999 Greg Webber wrote;
My last Harrison butler boat was the sweetest of all. Erla came into my life four or five years after Sage. I regretfully had to sell after only three years. She was let run down terribly by the new owners and it was with much delight I saw her just this Fall, looking much, much better.
Erla was the boat that Harrison Butler went to see when launched as the owner couldn't figure out why she floated above her marks. It turned out that the scantlings had been misread by the builders; the beam measurement specified for the outside of the ribs was used for the inside of the ribs. The couple of inches of extra beam didn't detract from her beauty or sailing ability.
The only other known boat built to the Sinah design is Amiri .
A half-model of Erla is owner by the Royal Thames Yacht Club.
Erla was sold by Victor Doree to a Canadian in 1976.
