Ard Chuan's Atlantic Crossing
Ard Chuan is in the Lloyd's Registers from 1930 up to 1970 at which point she was removed by Lloyd's because she had been “Sold to the USA”. In fact, a recent communication with John and Carol Mills has revealed that it was they who, in 1968/1969 sailed Ard Chuan across the Atlantic, selling her in late 1969, a month after they arrived. In the HBA archives was a most interesting photograph of Ard Chuan half way across the atlantic with a Warship close by. This photograph will be explained more fully in a forthcoming article in the New Year 2018 edition of Crusing Yachts.
